NHA CCMA

The NHA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) exam is a computer-based, multiple-choice test covering seven content domains. These practice exams mirror the real exam's length and format.

Before you begin

  • Time Limit: 3 hours. A built-in timer will be set.
  • Format: 180 multiple-choice questions (150 scored, 30 unscored pre-test items — you won't know which is which, so answer every question).
  • Domains: Foundational Knowledge & Basic Science, Anatomy & Physiology, Clinical Patient Care, Patient Care Coordination & Education, Administrative Assisting, Communication & Customer Service, Medical Law & Ethics.
  • Environment: quiet space, no distractions, no resources.

During & after the exam

  • Answer ALL: even if unsure, make your best choice — unscored items are mixed in and not identified.
  • Scoring: the real exam is scored on a 200-500 scale.
  • Passing score: 390/500 (about 78% of questions correct).
  • Review: on the real exam, official results post to your NHA account within about two business days. Here, your score and explanations are shown immediately.
